Job summary

Leonardo is seeking a Chief Systems Engineer in Basildon to lead systems thinking across the Precision Guidance business area. You will influence engineering artefacts, govern SE processes, and coach teams to handle complexity while ensuring high-quality, integrated solutions.

You will shape architectures, drive MBSE practices, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver lifecycle-focused outcomes in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing Systems Engineering governance and LCM processes.
• Proven track record delivering high-quality artefacts within integrated teams.
• Experience eliciting stakeholder expectations and defining architectures.
• Ability to lead in a high-complexity, dynamic environment at senior level.
• Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering tools and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Influence artefact quality and coherence across the FC/ASW programme.
• Act as focal point for SE governance and lifecycle compliance.
• Coach engineers to understand problem space and system constraints.
• Apply concept development, modelling and architectural techniques.
• Consider safety, security, manufacture, test and through-life support.
• Capture lessons learned to improve future work quality and efficiency.
• Collaborate with peers to promote continual SE improvement as change agents.
• Identify systemic inefficiencies and turn them into improvements.
