Job summary

Leonardo in Basildon is seeking a Head of Engineering Projects to lead strategic delivery of complex engineering programmes from concept to production support. You will shape capability, mentor teams, and drive innovation while ensuring safety, quality, and value in all activities.

Qualifications

• A degree in Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience in a senior engineering role, managing complex projects in a regulated environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Strategic thinker with a track record of solving complex problems.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and oversight across all programmes, motivating and leading engineering teams.
• Shape and direct planning, resourcing, prioritisation, execution and delivery of engineering projects.
• Build a high‑performing engineering organisation with proactive mentoring.
• Champion adoption of cutting‑edge technologies and modern methodologies.
• Forge strong relationships with internal teams, customers and partners to ensure seamless delivery.
• Apply Life Cycle Management processes across bids and projects and ensure governance.
• Ensure adherence to safety, security and quality standards across engineering teams.
• Lead budgeting decisions to deliver value while maintaining quality and safety.
• Drive proactive risk management across engineering practices.
• Support VP in monthly reviews and cross‑LoB assessments.
