Job summary

Leonardo UK Basildon is seeking a Project Engineering Lead to deliver the engineering content for Future Seeker programmes. You will lead cross-disciplinary teams and ensure designs meet customer, contractual, and regulatory requirements.

The role reports to a Project Engineering Manager and involves governance reporting, planning, and collaboration with external partners. A strong product design, commercial and business awareness is essential to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• Educated to a degree level in an engineering-related subject (essential)
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams (essential)
• Experience leading low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) research programmes (essential)
• Strong understanding of engineering lifecycles and processes (essential)
• Experience developing hardware electronics, firmware and mechanical products (desirable)
• Experience collaborating with external partners (desirable)
• Experience in defence or aerospace industry (desirable)
• Demonstrated experience across all design lifecycle phases (intrinsic)
• Well-rounded engineering experience across all design lifecycle phases (intrinsic)

Responsibilities

• Deliver the engineering output on time, cost and performance budgets across projects
• Create and maintain engineering plans with milestones and risk tracking
• Prepare monthly engineering status reports for governance
• Coordinate engineering input into bids as part of business winning
• Line-manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team and support career development
• Foster strong relationships with project managers and engineering leads
