Job summary

Wellingborough-based engineering team is seeking a hands-on Service Engineer with fault-finding expertise to join the Quality Engineering & Service group at their facility. You will repair advanced flow measurement equipment and lead investigations, producing detailed technical reports to boost reliability and customer satisfaction across multiple industries.

Qualifications

• Time-served engineering apprenticeship with Level 3 qualification (HNC Level 4 desirable)
• Strong electro-mechanical fault-finding and service experience
• Experience using automated configuration/diagnostic tools
• Good general engineering knowledge
• Computer literate (Word, Excel)
• Experience with ERP systems (Infor/SAP)
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
• Customer-focused, methodical and professional approach

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical investigations, fault diagnosis and non-destructive disassembly
• Support repair, calibration and customer complaint/warranty processes
• Produce clear, evidence-based technical reports and root cause analysis
• Liaise with engineering specialists to validate findings and corrective actions
• Use diagnostic tools, bespoke control systems and business platforms (ERPLN, QSYS, OMETA)
• Provide technical support to customers and internal teams
• Work collaboratively across departments to improve product reliability and service performance
• Contribute to structured problem-solving activities including 8D, PFMEA and RCA
• Promote knowledge sharing and cross-functional training within the service team
