Job summary

Version 1 is seeking a Senior Service Designer to lead multi-disciplinary, UK public sector service design across the full lifecycle from Discovery to Live. You will map services, coordinate with researchers, policy and tech teams, and ensure accessibility and governance compliance.

Work in a hybrid, client-facing role with a focus on evidence-based decisions, service mapping, and stakeholder engagement to deliver high-quality, user-centred experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior Service Designer in UK public sector or GDS-aligned environments.
• Proven ability to design end-to-end services across multiple channels with evidence-based decisions.
• Strong workshop facilitation skills and stakeholder engagement at senior levels.
• Knowledge of GOV.UK Service Standard and accessibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead service design activity within an Agile multidisciplinary delivery team.
• Map as-is and to-be services, detecting pain points and gaps across journeys.
• Create service blueprints, journey maps and ecosystem maps.
• Translate user research into actionable service improvements.
• Facilitate workshops and co-design sessions with diverse stakeholders.
• Collaborate with product, policy, data and technology teams to design viable services.
• Prepare for GOV.UK Service Standard assessments and assurance activities.
• Champion accessibility and inclusive design throughout delivery.
