Job summary

Scrumconnect Consulting is seeking a Senior Service Designer to lead end-to-end service design for discovery through Alpha, ensuring user needs, policy intent and technical constraints align. You will collaborate with researchers, analysts and architects to deliver evidence-based, scalable services for UK government clients.

You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, facilitate co-design workshops, and drive documentation such as blueprints and journey maps while aligning with GDS Service Standard

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a Service Designer in UK public sector or government digital delivery.
• Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end service design across complex, multi-channel services.
• Proficiency with service design tools including Miro, FigJam, Figma or equivalent.
• Experience producing service blueprints, journey maps and interaction models.
• Ability to facilitate co-design workshops with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of the GDS Service Standard and Design phase expectations.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary Agile teams with researchers, product managers and engineers.
• SFIA Level 5 competencies per SFIA framework.

Responsibilities

• Lead service design activities across discovery to Alpha for complex services.
• Coordinate end-to-end service journeys for multiple stakeholder groups.
• Facilitate co-design workshops with users, policy teams and technical stakeholders.
• Produce service blueprints, ecosystem maps and journey maps.
• Work with researchers to ground designs in user evidence and testing.
• Articulate the to-be service vision and identify user experience improvements.
• Translate policy requirements into clear, usable service designs.
• Document pain points, dependencies and constraints for new system design.
• Present outputs to senior stakeholders and advocate user-centred approaches.
• Contribute to GDS service assessments and coach junior designers.
