Job summary

Immunocore Ltd. is seeking a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation in Oxford to drive analytical characterisation of biologics and biopharmaceutical products. You will develop LC-MS/MS and peptide mapping methods, oversee testing, and contribute to protocol writing and reports.

You will work in a cross-functional team within the CMC group, mentor peers, and help advance ImmTAX programmes while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC-based peptide mapping and MS characterization of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Glycosylation analysis experience on recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Expertise in electrophoretic, chromatographic, or mass spectrometry methods.
• Experience in assay development and stability study interpretation.
• Collaborative work in diverse teams and driving process improvements.
• Presentation of detailed scientific findings to internal/external audiences.

Responsibilities

• Characterise drug substances/products using biochemical and analytical methods.
• Develop characterisation methods for ImmTAX and related products (LC-MS/MS, intact mass).
• Lead testing activities and mentor colleagues on analytical techniques.
• Prepare study protocols and reports; present findings to management and partners.
• Ensure compliance with EHS policies and maintain high-quality laboratory records.
