Job summary

WSP is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead technical delivery of rail stations projects from our UK offices, including Manchester. You will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and uphold CDM and safety standards across projects for major rail clients and authorities.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status or equivalent, with experience in CEM/CRE roles and a strong track record in design-led rail environments.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable multidisciplinary delivery experience with client relationships.
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional status.
• Experience in client-facing environments.
• Ability to apply innovative engineering techniques to contract solutions.
• Experience undertaking CEM and/or CRE roles.
• Experience on rail projects within a design organisation.
• Ability to lead and coordinate technical resources.
• Understanding of client engineering assurance processes (GRIP, PACE, Pathways).
• Awareness of Network Rail standards and related rail design practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery of multi-disciplinary station design projects.
• Manage client and stakeholder relationships to achieve project outcomes.
• Ensure CDM and health and safety compliance on projects.
• Represent WSP in design coordination activities (IDR/IDC).
• Undertake the CEM role in NR/L2/INI/02009.
• Support Project and Design Managers in the technical delivery of Rail projects.
• Provide guidance, support and mentorship to aspiring engineering managers.
