Job summary

Arup's Rail team is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex rail projects across the UK. Based in Manchester, Glasgow or York, you will guide engineering and design activities, manage programmes and budgets, and ensure projects meet objectives.

You will coordinate interfaces between clients, multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors and delivery partners, building trusted relationships and ensuring high quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing multidisciplinary rail or complex infrastructure design projects.
• Proven experience leading projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Good knowledge of the rail industry across stations, depots, civils, electrification, decarbonisation and related areas.
• Degree or equivalent qualification; Chartered Project Professional status or pathway toward chartership; APM qualification advantageous.
• Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills with a collaborative approach.
• Willingness to travel to client or project sites across the UK.
• Mentoring and developing colleagues; using data analysis/visualisation tools like Excel/Power BI beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead the successful delivery of technically excellent rail projects and bids across the UK portfolio.
• Manage engineering/design activities, interfaces, programmes, budgets, scope, quality and commercial performance.
• Coordinate communication between clients, multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors and delivery partners.
• Own project delivery plans and oversee projects through to completion; capture lessons learned and maintain project records.
• Develop leadership within the team and share knowledge across the business.
