Job summary

Calibre Search is seeking a Senior Rail/Bridge Engineer to join its Rail team, delivering civil engineering design for rail infrastructure across the South West and Wales. You will work within a multidisciplinary environment, supporting feasibility through detailed design and implementation while mentoring junior engineers.

The role emphasizes collaboration, client engagement, and adherence to rail industry standards, with opportunities for professional development and chartership.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Willingness to work towards Incorporated or Chartered status (ICE or equivalent).
• Experience delivering civil engineering design within the rail sector.
• Strong understanding of rail standards and project delivery.
• Experience producing reports, drawings and engineering documentation.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with digital engineering tools and modern design environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver civil engineering design solutions for rail infrastructure projects.
• Support projects through feasibility, detailed design and implementation stages.
• Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, calculations and specifications.
• Coordinate project delivery with multidisciplinary teams.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders, providing technical support and guidance.
• Ensure designs meet industry standards, safety requirements and client expectations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
• Mentor junior engineers where appropriate.
