Job summary

Calibre Search is seeking a Senior Rail/Bridge Engineer to join its Rail team, delivering civil engineering design for rail infrastructure across the South West and Wales. Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Willingness to work towards Incorporated or Chartered status (ICE or equivalent).
• Experience delivering civil engineering design within the rail sector.
• Strong understanding of rail standards and project delivery.
• Experience producing reports, drawings and engineering documentation.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with digital engineering tools and modern design environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Job description

I'm working with a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that's looking to appoint a Senior Rail/Bridge Engineer to join its growing Rail team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of rail infrastructure projects across the South West and Wales, supporting the delivery of technically challenging schemes within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. You'll play a key role in developing and delivering civil engineering designs throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring high-quality, safe and sustainable solutions for clients across the rail sector.

The Role

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll:

• Deliver civil engineering design solutions for rail infrastructure projects
• Support projects through feasibility, detailed design and implementation stages
• Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, calculations and specifications
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate project delivery
• Engage with clients and stakeholders, providing technical support and guidance
• Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards, safety requirements and client expectations
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing across the team
• Support and mentor junior engineers where appropriate

What They're Looking For

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Working towards, or already holding, Incorporated or Chartered status (ICE or equivalent)
• Previous experience delivering civil engineering design within the rail sector
• Strong understanding of rail standards, design processes and project delivery
• Experience producing technical reports, drawings and engineering documentation
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with digital engineering tools and modern design environments
