Job summary

Crouch Waterfall, part of the Vulcain Engineering Group, is growing its Civil & Structural team in the Bristol area. We seek an early-career Civil/Structural Engineer with 2+ years of rail/bridge exposure, offering strong technical support and clear development pathways toward Chartered Engineer status.

You will work within a multidisciplinary UK design team on bridges, stations, and wider infrastructure, with opportunities to progress and broaden your skills while supporting project delivery

Qualifications

• A BEng (or higher) in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.
• Graduate member of ICE or IStructE, or willing to work towards professional membership.
• 2+ years of relevant practical experience.
• Exposure to UK rail projects or bridge engineering is advantageous.
• Fluent in English with the right to work in the UK.
• Based within commuting distance of Cardiff, or willing to relocate to Bristol.

Responsibilities

• Work within a multi-disciplinary design team on UK rail/bridge projects including bridges, footbridges, stations and wider infrastructure.
• Support the design of new bridges and the assessment, repair, and strengthening of existing structures.
• Assist with project delivery from feasibility through to construction support, meeting programme and budget requirements.
• Attend site surveys and client meetings, developing client-facing experience.
• Build project management skills, including exposure to bidding, tendering and delivery processes.
• Gain insight into the commercial and financial aspects of project delivery.
• Support technical activities such as inspections, surveys, feasibility studies and programme preparation.
• Review designs and calculations produced by others under supervision.
