Job summary

Vistry Group is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for our West Malling office in Kent. You will lead cost control, commercial governance and financial reporting across multiple housing projects, working within the Commercial, Estimating and Buying teams.

You will be responsible for managing contract costs, variations, procurement programmes and final accounts, while maintaining quality and profitability for the Group.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Surveying or equivalent.
• Proven PQS/SQS/Commercial lead experience in residential house building.
• Understanding of building regulations and legal obligations.
• Knowledge of construction methods and materials.
• Strong mathematical and IT ability.
• Ability to assess and analyse information.
• Good business sense and budget management.
• Negotiating and networking skills.
• Excellent communications skills.
• Able to work under pressure, and accept criticism.
• Good team working skills.
• Accurate with an eye for detail.
• Methodical approach.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Commercial, Estimating and Buying team to supervise and advise on cost and contractual aspects of multiple projects.
• Oversee execution of the Quantity Surveying function on allocated contracts to maximise quality of service and profitability.
• Provide cost control and financial reporting across construction activities.
• Attend design meetings to advise on cost implications and liaise with Site Managers on delays and costs.
• Prepare tender lists, procurement programmes and contract documentation.
• Prepare construction cost analyses and monthly cost reporting.
• Manage sub-contract orders, variations, and final accounts within budget.
• Ensure proper payment processes, CVRs, and cash flow forecasts.
