Job summary

Vistry Group is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor for the Wakefield office. You will oversee the financial and contractual aspects of multiple residential projects, providing cost control, reporting, and guidance to the commercial team.

You will lead a team, support procurement, and ensure projects stay within budget while maintaining high quality standards. The role supports flexible working where possible within a collaborative office environment.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Surveying or equivalent.
• Proven PQS/SQS/Commercial lead experience in residential house building.
• Strong understanding of building regulations and legal obligations.
• Good knowledge of construction methods and materials.
• Strong mathematical and IT ability; ability to assess and analyse information.
• Good business sense and budget management skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and coach direct reports and the wider team to support growth.
• Recruitment involvement across the team and succession planning.
• Attend design meetings to advise on cost implications.
• Advise Site Managers on delays, EOTs, and variance costs.
• Prepare tender lists, procurement programmes and cost analyses.
• Prepare and manage cost reports, cash flow, and turnover forecasts.
