Job summary

Vistry Group in Wakefield invites applications for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function across multiple sites. You will oversee cost control, budgets and procurement within the Residential division, guiding SQS/PQS teams and advising on cost implications during design and construction.

The role requires strong budgeting, negotiation, and IT skills, with experience in house-building projects and a willingness to work flexibly and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Surveying or equivalent.
• Proven PQS/SQS/Commercial lead experience in residential house-building.
• Understanding of building regulations and legal obligations.
• Knowledge of construction methods and materials.
• Strong mathematical and IT ability.
• Ability to assess and analyse information and budgets.
• Willing to work extra to meet deadlines.
• Degree in Surveying or similar; working towards CIOB/RICS.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach the commercial team to support growth and development.
• Recruitment involvement and performance reviews for the team.
• Advise on cost implications in design meetings with Land/Development.
• Identify delays, extensions of time, and loss/expense and issue notices.
• Prepare tender documentation and procurement programmes.
• Prepare cost analyses and pricing for tenders, with subcontractors.
• Monitor costs, prepare CVR/ cashflow reports and final accounts.
