Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Regional Scotland team on an Education Facility project. You will support commercial delivery, working with the project team, customer and supply-chain partners to drive value and manage risk.

You will manage cost control, subcontract procurement and valuations in line with contract requirements, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Previous Quantity Surveying experience in construction projects.
• Strong track record on building, structural or major projects.
• Experience managing subcontract procurement and accounts.
• Good knowledge of construction contracts and processes.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs and programmes.
• Experience forecasting, cost reports and cost-value reconciliations.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Good communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Measure, record and value works per contract and company procedures.
• Manage commercial performance of building and structural work packages.
• Prepare cost-value reconciliations, forecasts and reports.
• Review drawings, specifications and works information.
• Prepare bills of quantities, schedules of rates and estimates.
• Procure subcontractors and manage enquires, tenders and adjudications.
• Manage subcontract accounts, valuations, payments, variations and final accounts.
• Plan commercial activities with the project team in line with programme.
• Collate and report cost and value information accurately.
• Develop understanding of customer contract and risks, manage changes.
