Job summary

Hill McGlynn Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team from their Gillingham, Kent office. The role focuses on estimating, tendering, pricing and cost management across construction projects from tender through to completion.

The successful candidate will collaborate with project managers and the wider commercial team, ensuring budgets, costs and commercial risks are effectively managed.

Qualifications

• Previous Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industry.
• Strong estimating, tendering and construction pricing capabilities.
• Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of construction costs.
• Experience managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial aspects of construction projects from tender stage through to final account.
• Preparing detailed estimates, cost plans and project budgets.
• Reviewing tender documentation, drawings and specifications.
• Preparing competitive and commercially accurate tender submissions.
• Undertaking pricing exercises and analysing project costs.
• Managing subcontractor procurement, tender enquiries and quotation analysis.
• Preparing subcontract orders and managing subcontractor accounts.
• Monitoring project expenditure against agreed budgets.
• Preparing cost reports, forecasts and commercial updates.
• Managing valuations, variations and change control.
• Assessing subcontractor applications for payment.
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
• Working closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers and the wider commercial team.
• Negotiating and agreeing final accounts.
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation.
