Job summary

Hill McGlynn Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor for their Faversham-based team. The role focuses on commercial management of fit-out projects from pre-construction to final accounts, with responsibility for budgets, procurement, and client liaison.

You will manage subcontractors, prepare cost reports, and maintain accurate records while protecting commercial interests across the project lifecycle. Previous fit-out QS experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous Quantity Surveying experience within the fit-out sector is essential.
• Experience with subcontractor procurement and package management.
• Strong knowledge of valuations, variations, change control and final accounts.
• Experience preparing cost reports, forecasts and project budgets.

Responsibilities

• Taking commercial responsibility for fit-out projects from pre-construction through to final account.
• Preparing and managing project budgets, cost plans and forecasts.
• Managing subcontractor procurement, including tender enquiries, analysis and appointments.
• Preparing and issuing subcontract documentation.
• Assessing subcontractor applications for payment.
• Managing variations and change control throughout project delivery.
• Preparing and submitting client valuations and applications for payment.
• Producing regular cost reports and commercial forecasts.
• Monitoring project expenditure against agreed budgets.
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities across projects.
• Working closely with Project Managers and site teams to monitor project performance.
• Attending project, commercial and client meetings as required.
• Managing subcontractor accounts and resolving commercial queries.
• Negotiating and agreeing final accounts.
• Ensuring accurate commercial records and documentation are maintained throughout projects.
• Supporting the management of contractual matters and project correspondence.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
