Job summary

Hill McGlynn Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Canterbury-based team on fit out projects. You will take commercial responsibility for projects from pre-construction through to final account, coordinating with Project Managers, site teams and clients to ensure works stay within budget.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in fit out, robust cost control, tender procurement and contract administration, with excellent numerical and analytical abilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in fit out sector is essential.
• Strong experience managing commercial aspects of construction projects.
• Experience with subcontractor procurement and package management.
• Excellent numerical and analytical ability.

Responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for fit out projects from pre-construction through to final account.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans and forecasts.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, tender enquiries, analysis and appointments.
• Prepare and issue subcontract documentation.
• Assess subcontractor applications for payment.
• Manage variations and change control throughout project delivery.
• Prepare and submit valuations and applications for payment.
• Produce regular cost reports and forecasts.
• Monitor project expenditure against budgets.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities across projects.
• Communicate with Project Managers and site teams to monitor performance.
• Attend project, commercial and client meetings as required.
• Manage subcontractor accounts and resolve commercial queries.
• Negotiate and agree final accounts.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation.
• Support contractual matters and project correspondence.
