Job summary

Hill McGlynn Recruitment Limited is recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor for an established electrical contractor based in Essex, with projects across Essex and London. The role focuses on managing the commercial aspects of electrical projects, controlling costs, contracts and financial performance from tender to final account, in a busy, growing environment.

You will work closely with Project Managers and site teams, ensuring accuracy of budgets, valuations and subcontractor payments,

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the electrical contracting sector.
• Strong understanding of commercial and domestic electrical installations, including cabling and power distribution.
• Experience managing tender through final account for electrical projects.
• Knowledge of construction contracts such as JCT and NEC.
• Experience with subcontractor procurement, cost management, valuations and variations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of electrical installation projects from inception through to completion.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts and financial reports.
• Oversee subcontractor procurement, tender evaluations and contract negotiations.
• Prepare and submit valuations, variations and applications for payment.
• Monitor project expenditure, identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and electrical teams to ensure delivery.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, including payments, variations and final accounts.
• Review drawings and documentation to assess costs and commercial requirements.
• Ensure contractual compliance and maintain accurate commercial records.
• Attend project meetings and provide updates on commercial performance.
• Support the preparation and negotiation of final accounts.
