Job description

Our client, a leading Civil Engineering and Infrastructure specialist, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Manchester.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver accurate cost, value, and cash flow reporting to support project and business unit forecasting
  • Manage project costs, forecasting, and monthly CVR and commercial reporting
  • Prepare and manage applications for payment, cash flow forecasts, and final accounts
  • Procure, negotiate, and commercially manage subcontractors and supply chain agreements
  • Administer and manage main contracts and subcontracts (including NEC and IChemE forms)
  • Lead commercial discussions on variations, claims, and contractual changes
  • Identify and realise commercial opportunities while managing and mitigating commercial risk
  • Support governance, compliance, and internal commercial reporting requirements
  • Work collaboratively with project and delivery teams to achieve commercial and financial targets
  • Share best practice and provide commercial support to site teams
Experience Required
  • Previous experience in the construction industry
  • Familiarity with IChemE/NEC forms of contract and knowledge and understanding of Construction Law
  • Previous experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates, and accruals calculations
  • Demonstrable experience in monthly forecasting and cost analysis.
  • Excellent communication, numeric and computer literacy skills, proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
Desirable
  • Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards
  • CSCS card
  • HND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in estimation
  • Experience working for a direct delivery contractor
  • An engaging communicator with problem-solving skills
