Grant Thornton UK is seeking an experienced Senior Public Sector Audit Complaints and Objections Manager to lead complaints handling, objections, and whistleblowing investigations within local government and NHS audit work. You will work under the Public Sector Audit leadership to uphold accountability and regulatory standards.

The role requires ACA/ACCA qualification, public sector audit experience, and strong stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
• Local government or public sector audit experience is required.
• Knowledge of the LAAA 2014 and the National Audit Code.
• Strong written communication and analytical skills.
• Confident stakeholder and relationship management.
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
• Curiosity about public accountability and a commitment to the public interest.

Responsibilities

• Lead the management and resolution of complaints relating to local audit work, ensuring robust, evidence-based responses.
• Manage end-to-end objections under the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 with written decisions.
• Act as main contact for whistleblowing disclosures relevant to audited bodies and oversee investigations.
• Respond to matters raised by electors and others, coordinating with engagement teams within statutory timescales.
