Job summary

Grant Thornton UK is seeking an experienced Senior Public Sector Audit Complaints and Objections Manager within our Public Sector Audit practice. You will oversee the end-to-end handling of complaints and objections relating to local audit work, ensuring robust, evidence-based decisions and regulatory alignment.

Reporting to the Public Sector Audit Partner, you will manage whistleblowing disclosures, coordinate with audit teams, and contribute to internal policy development.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with professional body accreditation (ACA/ACCA or equivalent).
• Excellent written communication and analytical skills are essential.
• Proven stakeholder management and ability to build relationships with regulators and clients.
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously under statutory timelines.
• A genuine interest in public accountability and the public interest.

Responsibilities

• Lead complaints management and resolution for local audit work, ensuring robust responses.
• Oversee objections under Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014, coordinating with engagement teams.
• Act as liaison for whistleblowing disclosures related to audited bodies, ensuring confidentiality and escalation.
• Respond to matters raised by electors under auditing standards and national codes, guiding follow-up actions.
