Job summary

Grant Thornton UK is seeking an experienced Senior Public Sector Audit Complaints and Objections Manager to join our Public Sector Audit service line. You will oversee complaints handling, objections under the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014, and whistleblowing disclosures with rigorous governance and stakeholder engagement.

You will work with diverse teams, ensuring timely, well-reasoned decisions and maintaining public accountability.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent).
• Experience in local government or public sector audit.
• Knowledge of the LAAA 2014 and National Audit Code.
• Strong written communication and analytical abilities.
• Confident stakeholder and relationship management.
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
• Curiosity about public accountability and public interest.

Responsibilities

• Lead complaints handling and oversee responses to governance, ensuring evidence-based outcomes.
• Manage objections under the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 with due process.
• Handle whistleblowing disclosures with confidentiality and appropriate escalation.
• Address matters raised by electors under auditing standards and liaise with teams.
