Job summary

Grant Thornton UK, a leading audit, tax and advisory firm, seeks an experienced Senior Manager to oversee local public sector audit processes, providing regulatory judgement and stakeholder management.

You will lead complaints handling, objections under the Local Audit and Accountability Act, whistleblowing disclosures, and responses to matters raised by electors, while contributing to guidance and training.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent).
  • Local government or public sector audit experience.
  • Knowledge of the LAAA 2014 and the National Audit Code.
  • Strong written communication and analytical skills.
  • Confident stakeholder and relationship management.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
  • A curiosity about public accountability and a commitment to the public interest are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the management and resolution of complaints relating to local audit work, ensuring robust, evidence-based responses.
  • Manage end-to-end objections to audited accounts under the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014.
  • Act as a point of contact for whistleblowing disclosures and investigate in line with policies.
  • Respond to matters raised by electors and others under auditing standards and the National Audit Code, coordinating with engagement teams.
