Grant Thornton UK invites applications for a Senior Public Sector Audit Complaints and Objections Manager in our Public Sector Audit practice. You will lead complaints handling, manage elector objections under the Local Audit and Accountability Act, and handle whistleblowing disclosures, ensuring robust, compliant responses.

Reporting to the Public Sector Audit Partner lead, you will mentor teams, shape guidance, and represent the firm with regulators.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent)
• Public sector audit experience is required.
• Knowledge of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 and National Audit Code.
• Strong written communication and analytical skills.
• Excellent stakeholder and relationship management.
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
• A commitment to public accountability and public interest is essential.
• Experience in regulatory, legal, or complaints environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with audit quality and oversight frameworks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the management and resolution of complaints relating to local audit work, ensuring robust, evidence-based responses.
• Manage end-to-end process for local elector objections under the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014.
• Triage and investigate whistleblowing disclosures relevant to audited bodies, maintaining confidentiality.
• Assess matters raised by electors and others under auditing standards, coordinating with engagement teams for timely follow-up.
