Job summary

Grant Thornton UK is seeking an experienced Senior Public Sector Audit Complaints and Objections Manager to oversee complaints, objections and whistleblowing matters arising from local audit work. This role requires regulatory judgement, technical audit expertise and robust stakeholder engagement.

The successful candidate will advise on Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 processes, support internal guidance, and represent the firm in formal correspondence with regulators and audited bodies.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with public sector audit experience.
• Knowledge of the LAAA 2014 and the National Audit Code.
• Strong written communication and analytical skills.
• Confident stakeholder and relationship management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the management and resolution of complaints relating to Grant Thornton's local audit work, ensuring responses are robust and evidence-based.
• Manage the end-to-end process for local elector objections to audited accounts under the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014.
• Act as a key contact for whistleblowing disclosures relevant to audited bodies and investigate disclosures per policy and auditing standards.
• Assess matters raised by electors and others under auditing standards; coordinate with engagement teams for appropriate follow-up within statutory timescales.
• Contribute to internal guidance and policies on these processes; support training; represent Grant Thornton externally in formal correspondence and meetings with regulators.
