Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a capable Project Principal/Manager to lead major FEED and Detailed Design projects in the energy sector across the UK and Europe. You will drive delivery, shape PM practices, and mentor teams while ensuring excellence and efficiency across programs.

Ideal candidates bring a proven track record in complex, multidisciplinary design in engineering, plus strong stakeholder management and a collaborative leadership style.

Qualifications

• Recognised project management qualifications (APM PMQ/PRINCE2/PMP).
• Relevant degree in engineering or project management.
• Proven delivery of multi-disciplinary design projects in energy.
• Experience with change, risk, schedule and cost management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Understanding of NEC contract terms and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary design projects across civils, cable, substation, protection & control.
• Manage scope, schedule, quality and budget to meet client expectations.
• Build relationships with senior client stakeholders and internal teams.
• Establish clear communication across project teams and vendors.
• Own problem-solving and decision-making throughout the lifecycle.
• Oversee contract administration and project commercial aspects.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Promote health, safety and wellbeing across activities.
