Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join the Energy division in the UK. You will lead civil/structural design for power plants, HV substations, HVDC interconnectors, and related cable projects, driving FEED activities, cost estimates, and planning/detailed drawings.

You will manage projects, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to innovative energy infrastructure delivery.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of structural engineering principles: load-bearing capacity, material properties, and design codes.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (SAP2000/ETABS) for modeling complex structures.
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its application to project visualization and coordination.
• Ability to lead structural engineering projects independently, manage timelines and budgets.

Responsabilités

• Carry out design work on power plants, HV substations, HVDC Interconnectors, and HV cable projects.
• Provide project management, proposal writing, and scheme costings.
• Lead FEED activities and produce planning/tender drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate design across multidisciplinary teams and supervise junior engineers.
• Assess existing structures for reuse and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
