Senior Project Manager - Finance and Business Management - 31005

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead in the strategic planning and business management of the Environment Agency's largest digital transformation programme within the Environment & Business directorate. The successful candidate will oversee financial and business management within the Programme Management Office (PMO), supporting risk mitigation and value for money delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Understanding and managing the financial and economic aspects underpinning the programme's business case and funding bids.
2. Aligning programme deliverables with strategic objectives and managing change control processes.
3. Supporting the Programme Manager in ensuring affordability and value for money in work-packages.
4. Managing stakeholder queries and providing regular financial and programme reports.
5. Supporting investment activities and ensuring governance and assurance compliance.
6. Contributing to ongoing business management through whole life cost allocations.

The team, responsible for digital strategy implementation, works with a multidisciplinary group including Defra shared services and third-party suppliers to deliver user-centered digital services efficiently and effectively.

Essential skills and experience include:

• Experience managing complex financial information and working in dynamic programme environments.
• Proficiency in digital tools (Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, PowerBI).
• Understanding of financial, business planning, and budgetary processes.
