Job summary

Raytheon UK is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to deploy applications and software to cloud or on‑prem environments from Manchester, Lancashire. The role is permanent and full‑time, with an onsite focus and a hybrid option requiring a minimum of three days on site.

You will build and set up development tools, automate release processes, and ensure security against cyber threats. Collaboration with SCRUM/DevOps teams across multiple business areas is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery models.
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS or Azure).
• Infrastructure as code using Terraform, Puppet, Chef or Ansible.
• Experience in building/deploying large-scale apps in CI/CD pipelines.
• Container platforms/orchestration (ECS, AKS, Kubernetes/Docker).
• Automation/integration tools such as Jenkins, Concourse CI or cloud equivalents.
• Experience in scripting languages and source control systems.

Role & Responsibilities

Work as a Senior Platform Engineer, deploying applications and software to cloud or on‑premises environments for our many business areas.

• Building and setting up development tools and infrastructure
• Understand the needs of project stakeholders
• Automate and improve development and release processes
• Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cyber security threats
• Identify technical problems and develop software updates and solutions
• Work with other engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended

Required Experience

• Experience of working in an Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery model
• Cloud technologies (AWS or Azure)
• Infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible)
• Experience in building and deploying large‑scale applications in Continuous Integration/Delivery pipelines
• Container platform and orchestration systems (ECS, AKS, Kubernetes/helm/Docker)
• Experience in automation and integration tools such as Jenkins, Concourse CI or cloud equivalents
