Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our London-based team and deliver mission-critical software across multiple business domains. You will develop backend services and enterprise-grade web applications, collaborate with stakeholders and engineers, and contribute to milestones and continuous improvement.

The role is on-site in London with an emphasis on delivery excellence. You will work in an agile environment, leveraging Java/Spring Boot, modern JS frameworks, cloud platforms

Role & Responsibilities

You’ll be part of our experienced Software Engineering function, working in a cross-functional team, delivering and deploying critical software across a variety of business areas.

• Design and build software using industry best practice
• Collaborate with stakeholders and other engineers
• Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with your project
• Contribute to continuous improvement within your team
• Collaborate with your peers on technical direction within your team

Requirements/knowledge (you don’t need everything)

• Experience working in an Agile delivery team
• Java development with Spring Boot
• Front‑end development using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue)
• Building enterprise‑grade web applications or backend services
• Cloud & DevOps
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Containerisation and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible or equivalent)
• Data & Integration
• Working with SQL and NoSQL data stores
• Familiarity with structured and unstructured data concepts
• Messaging / streaming systems (Kafka, AWS SQS, or other cloud-native queuing services)
• Experience with data visualisation tools or techniques
• Quality & Engineering Practices
• Unit testing and test automation
• Use of code repositories (Git), including branching strategies, pull‑request workflows, and merge processes
