Job summary

A government planning consultancy is seeking a Senior/Principal Planning Officer to manage a team within Development Management. You will evaluate planning applications and represent the Council at hearings. A strong background in Development Management and excellent communication skills are required. Full driving license and own vehicle are also essential. This role operates on a contract basis and offers a competitive pay rate.

Qualifications

• Experience representing the Council at hearings or inquiries.
• Experience with information technology systems.
• Full driving license and own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Manage an area team within Development Management.
• Evaluate and report on planning applications and appeals.
• Advise applicants and developers on proposed developments.
• Examine applications to ensure validity.
• Handle appeals and present the Council's case at hearings.

Skills

Experience in Development Management and major applications

Good organizational skills

Strong communication skills

Ability to prioritize workload

Understanding of Local Government procedures

Ability to work independently

Education

Degree in Town & Country Planning or equivalent

Eligibility for Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
