Job summary

Birmingham City Council is recruiting a Senior Performance Officer to join the PFI Contract Services team. The role focuses on monitoring highway maintenance contracts, analysing performance data and providing management information to drive service improvements.

You’ll work with the Principal Performance Officer, monitor contractor performance, ensure compliance and support decision-making across contract management processes. The position is 36.5 hours per week and based in Birmingham.

Qualifications

• Experience with performance reporting, data analysis and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Experience in performance-driven, contract management, public sector environments.
• Strong analytical skills in interpreting financial, statistical and technical data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing and stakeholder engagement.
• Good IT skills, especially Excel, to support decision-making and process improvement.
• Collaborative and customer-focused approach with cross-stakeholder teamwork.
• A relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse service provider performance against contractual requirements.
• Produce performance reports and management information to support contract management and payment processes.
• Audit and verify performance data, identify underperformance and recommend remedial actions.
• Support contract compliance and service delivery standards.
• Monitor service provider programmes, proposals, reports and related performance data.
• Maintain systems, processes and data arrangements to support contract administration.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Contribute to performance improvement initiatives and customer-focused services.
