Job summary

M-KOPA is seeking a Lead People Partner to own the people agenda for our Technology organisation as we scale the infrastructure behind financial inclusion across Africa and beyond.

You will partner directly with the CTO and leadership across Engineering, Data, IT and Security, owning people partnering end-to-end for Engineering and Product, while developing a high-performing Senior People Partner and driving data-informed decisions, cross-country collaboration, and effective organisation design.

Qualifications

• Senior HR experience partnering with engineering organisations in a scaling technology or fintech business.
• Experience coaching HR business partners and raising standards.
• Proven org design depth: levelling, spans and layers, function redesign.
• Strategic and operational range: long-term strategy to team-level work.
• Remote and global savvy: cross-cultural teams across regions.
• Strong business acumen aligning people priorities with leadership outcomes.
• Autonomy at C-level with stakeholders.
• ER judgement across multiple jurisdictions; UK/Europe exposure helpful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead people partnering across Engineering and Product, aligning people strategy to roadmaps.
• Own Engineering and Product end-to-end: accountability for people partnering across both.
• Coach and develop your direct report and set partnering standards.
• Use people analytics to inform decisions on capability, attrition and cost.
• Drive distributed team effectiveness across multi-country environment.
• Handle complex ER scenarios with judicious escalation and specialist support.
