Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Cornwall is seeking a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to enhance their dedicated team. This role offers the chance to take on a lead position within the department, focusing on both acute services and specialized clinics. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high clinical standards, training junior staff, and participating in clinical governance. An interest in specialist areas such as urogynaecology would be advantageous. Exciting opportunities arise with the development of a new Women's and Children's Hospital by 2031.

Qualifications

  • GMC Registration with a licence to practice is essential.
  • Must have MRCOG or appropriate specialist registration.
  • Clinical training in obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to UK CCST required.
  • Experience in leadership roles and general operative skills is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high clinical standards in obstetrics.
  • Manage the obstetric department day to day.
  • Ensure patient safety and deliver clinical excellence.
  • Teach and train junior staff and medical students.
  • Participate in Clinical Governance and Audit activities.

Skills

Clinical training in general obstetrics
Leadership skills in obstetrics
General operative skills

Education

MRCOG or appropriate specialist registration
Relevant CCT or equivalent
GMC Registration with a licence to practice
Higher degree or additional qualification (desirable)
