Job summary

Gwynedd Council is seeking a Network Engineer to design, expand, operate and document Local and Wide Area Networks, including firewalls and security devices. You will work with cross‑functional teams to ensure secure data and voice communications and to implement improvements across the IT estate.

The role requires CCNA/CCNP or equivalent, a degree or equivalent, and strong problem‑solving and documentation skills, in a bilingual Welsh/English setting. A full UK driving licence is desirable.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• CCNA/CCNP or equivalent professional qualification.
• Extensive experience in commissioning, support and maintenance of networks.
• Ability to develop policies and procedures and support major IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, expansion, operation and documentation of Local and Wide Area Networks.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure network security and data privacy.
• Evaluate new technologies and propose infra improvements.
• Monitor network performance and report on trends.
• Provide guidance and support to ICT staff and manage security.
• Ensure alignment with council policies and data protection obligations.
