Job summary

Stonegate Farmers is seeking a Senior Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for our Packing Centre in Lacock. You will maintain and improve a broad range of production equipment, lead complex fault-finding, and drive continuous improvement to maximise uptime and efficiency in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Apprentice-trained or time-served engineer with electrical/mechanical/multi-skilled background.
  • Food Safety qualification Level 2 or equivalent preferred.
  • Current edition of wiring regulations (C&G Level 3).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and improve production equipment to maximise reliability and efficiency.
  • Lead complex fault-finding and repair activities.
  • Support development of engineering best practices and drive continuous improvement.
  • Minimise downtime by coordinating with Production and Operations teams.

Job description

Salary: up to £58,000

Location: Lacock, Wiltshire

Working Hours: 07.00am - 19.00pm / 19.00pm - 07.00am, 4on4off

Due to continued growth and a recent structural review within our Engineering function, Stonegate Farmers is expanding its maintenance team and is seeking a Senior Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our Packing Centre. These are key positions responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and continuously improving a wide range of production equipment to ensure maximum reliability, efficiency and operational performance. You will provide advanced technical expertise, lead complex fault-finding and repair activities, support the development of engineering best practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the site. Working closely with Production and Operational teams, you will play a pivotal role in minimising downtime, enhancing equipment performance, and supporting the delivery of our production objectives in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Essential Qualifications
  • Apprentice-trained/time-served Engineer, or qualified to City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent standard in Electrical, Mechanical or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
  • Food Safety Qualification Level 2
  • Current Edition of IET Wiring Regulations (C&G Level 3).
Essential Experience & Knowledge
  • Extensive engineering experience within a food manufacturing, FMCG or highly automated production environment.
  • Advanced fault-finding capability across both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrable experience working with specialist engineering technologies, including robotics, PLC programming, automation systems, process control equipment, and advanced manufacturing machinery, with the ability to diagnose faults, implement improvements, and support complex production environments.
  • Proven experience
  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing conveyors, motors, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics and packaging equipment.
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) - including planned preventative maintenance scheduling, asset management, work order control, maintenance reporting and engineering performance analysis.
  • Demonstrable track record of reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability and driving operational performance improvements.
Desirable Experience & Knowledge
  • Experience within food packing, egg packing or high-care food manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of condition-based monitoring and reliability-centred maintenance techniques.
  • Proficiency in Shire (CMMS).
