Our Global IT Infrastructure department has an exciting opportunity for an Senior Modern Workplace Engineer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a remote position; however, the successful candidate will be expected to travel to our London office biweekly, with all travel expenses reimbursed.

About the role

As a key member of the Global IT Infrastructure team, the Senior Modern Workplace Engineer will manage and optimize all cloud-based technologies supporting approximately 100,000 users across Cognita’s four regions. The role requires expertise in cloud migration strategies, particularly leading on-premises workload migrations to Microsoft Azure using tools like Azure Migrate and DRS Migrate. The ideal candidate will evaluate, design, and implement scalable, secure cloud solutions, providing strategic insights aligned with organizational security and evolving needs.

Reporting to the Modern Workplace Manager, you will champion cloud services and ensure seamless delivery to our business customers. Responsibilities include planning, analyzing, designing, testing, and deploying enterprise-scale cloud solutions, including IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS.

This is a global role supporting the Cognita Group of Companies and schools worldwide.

Who we are looking for

To qualify, you should possess a relevant degree or Microsoft certification, with demonstrated experience in Microsoft Azure and Modern Workplace, especially in executing on-premises to Azure migration projects. Additionally, you should have:

• Strong expertise in Microsoft cloud services, including Azure and Microsoft 365.
• Proven experience leading on-premises workload migrations to Azure using tools like Azure Migrate.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Ability to multitask, manage a large workload, and demonstrate high levels of self-organization.
