Job summary

Leonardo in Luton is seeking a Microwave Engineer to design and deliver microwave subsystems for EW platforms. You will work on RF circuits beyond 20 GHz, contributing from early prototyping through to test and integration in a hybrid working environment.

Ideal candidates will have RF/microwave expertise, experience with industry tools, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while collaborating with customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Proven RF/microwave circuitry experience in electronic systems.
• Understanding of microwave theory, high‑frequency effects and practical layout considerations.
• Experience with industry‑standard EM and circuit tools.
• Hands‑on RF test equipment experience (network/spectrum analyzers, RF sources).
• Ability to debug hardware/test setups and report against design requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop microwave/RF circuits operating beyond 20 GHz for EW subsystems.
• Develop complex RF subsystems from prototyping to integration and test.
• Perform microwave simulations, modelling and optimisation.
• Conduct RF testing and debugging in laboratory facilities.
• Engage in design reviews with internal stakeholders and customers.
• Mentor less-experienced engineers and support junior staff.
