Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a Senior/Principal Microwave Engineer to design microwave/RF subsystems for EW programmes at our Luton or Bristol sites. The role features hybrid working with on-site time aligned to test and programme needs.

You will lead hands-on RF design and testing, translate system requirements into manufacturable solutions, mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews across Leonardo UK sites.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing RF/microwave circuitry or subsystems in complex electronic systems.
• Strong understanding of microwave theory, high-frequency effects and practical implementation.
• Experience using Keysight ADS, Microwave Office, CST Studio or HFSS and related EM tools.
• Hands-on RF test equipment experience (network analysers, spectrum analysers, RF sources).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop microwave and RF circuits for EW subsystems.
• Translate system requirements into robust, manufacturable microwave designs.
• Perform microwave simulation, modelling and optimisation using EM tools.
• Support hands-on RF test, measurement and debug with laboratory facilities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Engage in design reviews and technical discussions with stakeholders.
