Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's Radiotherapy Physics Group seeks an experienced Medical Physics Expert to join the Northern Centre for Cancer Care. Based primarily at Freeman Hospital, you will support treatment planning, lead major projects and provide expert physics leadership within a busy NHS centre.

Qualifications

• First- or second-class honours degree in physics or equivalent.
• Post-graduate degree at master’s or PhD level or equivalent knowledge.
• Registered Clinical Scientist with professional registration.
• Recognition by Secretary of State as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE).
• Corporate membership of a professional body.

Responsibilities

• Lead on major projects and provide clinical, scientific and technical advice.
• Support treatment planning and supervision of the planning team.
• Report and explain scientific issues to senior staff across disciplines.
• Lead and mentor staff; develop and monitor quality standards.
• Teach and train on postgraduate programmes and STP activities.
