Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the delivery of mechanical design across water and wastewater projects in Scotland, based in Glasgow with hybrid working. You will work with Scottish Water on major AMP8 initiatives, guiding feasibility through to detailed design and construction support, and mentoring junior engineers to strengthen the team.

You'll produce calculations, specifications and documentation, collaborate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams, and

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• CEng/IEng or working towards.
• Experience delivering mechanical projects within the UK water sector or other regulated infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of water treatment processes, pumping stations and mechanical systems.
• Experience leading technical delivery across multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience producing and reviewing technical calculations and documentation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations and related infrastructure.
• Produce and review technical calculations, specifications and schedules.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
• Support site investigations, design reviews and construction activities.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and delivery partners.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical expertise across the team.
• Promote technical excellence and support growth of Stantec's Water business.
