Job summary

Stantec in Inverness seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design across water and wastewater projects, from feasibility to commissioning. Based in Inverness with hybrid working, you’ll mentor engineers, support site activities and deliver robust technical solutions for Scotland’s water infrastructure.

You will collaborate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams, review calculations and specifications, and strengthen client relationships while promoting technical excellence within

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or actively working towards.
• Experience delivering mechanical engineering in UK water sector or regulated infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, pumping stations and mechanical systems.
• Experience leading technical delivery across multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience producing and reviewing technical calculations, specs and documentation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations and associated infrastructure.
• Produce and review technical calculations, specifications, schedules and documentation.
• Work with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Support site investigations, design reviews and construction activities.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and delivery partners.
• Help clients improve resilience and environmental commitments.
• Mentor junior engineers and share expertise across the team.
• Promote technical excellence and support growth of Stantec's Water business.
