Job summary

Aldwych Consulting Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Services team in the North West region. The role involves front-end project work, site appraisals and acting as the lead mechanical technical contact across multiple projects.

You will support the design process with site intelligence, liaise with clients and design teams, and ensure practical engineering solutions are delivered. Hybrid working and competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Strong background in mechanical building services design and engineering.
• Experience undertaking site surveys, technical assessments and inspections.
• Ability to interpret existing building conditions and identify practical engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical site appraisals, condition surveys and technical feasibility assessments.
• Assess existing mechanical services, installations and building systems.
• Gather and interpret technical information to support design development.
• Produce clear and professional site reports, sketches, photographs and technical briefing documents.
• Act as the mechanical engineering lead in meetings with clients, architects, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Provide practical technical advice and identify potential mechanical solutions to site-based constraints.
• Liaise closely with the design team to ensure site information is accurately translated into design requirements.
• Review mechanical installations during construction to ensure alignment with design intent and required quality standards.
• Undertake periodic site inspections and provide technical observations and recommendations.
• Support projects through the full lifecycle, from initial site appraisal through design, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Coordinate mechanical requirements with electrical services, architecture, building surveying and other disciplines.
