Overview

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer interested in opportunities on a permanent basis, to be located in the North West.

What you'll be doing

• Produce detailed mechanical drawings, including 3D models, 2D general arrangements, plot plans, and pipework designs.
• Support laser scanning operations and site surveys to inform accurate and up-to-date design work.
• Prepare essential documentation such as line lists, valve lists, and tie-in point schedules to support efficient project execution.
• Collaborate closely with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and smooth project progression.
• Provide hands-on support during installation phases and remain actively involved through regular project meetings.
• Ensure all aspects of mechanical services projects are clearly defined, well-coordinated, and effectively delivered, both off-site and on-site.

What you'll bring

• Work on a pharmaceutical site (HORUS clearance required)
• HNC in a related field; professional membership a plus
• 5+ years' experience in mechanical design and 3D modelling
• Confident with pipe specs and design constraints
• Familiar with laser scanning, site surveys, fabrication, and pressure vessel codes
• Skilled in AutoCAD, CADWorx/Plant3D, and Microsoft tools
• Collaborative team player in multi-discipline settings
• Embraces innovation and tracks project hours and progress
