Job summary

Latent Edge Ltd in Ampthill, Bedfordshire is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established engineering team and deliver complex mechanical systems from concept through to manufacture. You will design components, create 3D CAD models, apply GD&T, perform analysis, and collaborate with manufacturing, electronics and systems teams in a predominantly on-site role.

Experience with Creo or SolidWorks is essential, and experience in defence or high-reliability environments would be

Qualifications

• Strong experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Experience with Creo or SolidWorks and 3D CAD.
• Experience designing complex mechanical assemblies.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerancing, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with engineering calculations, FEA or structural analysis.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical challenges.
• Defence, aerospace or related field experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies and systems.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
• Support projects from concept through testing and production.
• Apply GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Carrying out engineering calculations and supporting FEA activities.
• Participating in design reviews and resolving technical challenges.
• Working closely with manufacturing, electronics and systems engineering teams.
• Supporting continuous improvement and engineering best practices.
