Job summary

World Class Defence Organisation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer on a 6-month contract. You will work in a defence/aerospace environment, applying Creo/Pro-E to develop components and assemblies for prime and variant products.

The role offers hybrid working with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote in the UK, with a 37-hour week and overtime at time and a quarter. Collaboration across multifunctional teams and suppliers will be key to meeting project milestones.

Qualifications

• Experience using Creo 3D design tool.
• Knowledge of defence/aerospace design standards is advantageous.
• Experience with design reviews and product lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical design and proving activities for parts and assemblies within a multifunctional team.
• Support manufacturing to resolve production issues and defects.
• Assist with functional and environmental testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers to resolve technical queries.
• Plan and report on day-to-day activities to meet milestones.
• Clarify and develop requirements, challenging extraneous ones to reduce lead time and complexity.

Job description

World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer subcontractors on an initial 6 month contract.

This role would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer who comes from a strong Defence or Aerospace background has strong Creo / PRO-E skills.

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Rate:£50.00 per hour

Location: Stevenage or Bristol (depending on your preference)

Hybrid / Remote working: 4 days a week likely onsite (likely could be lower on a week by week basis; depending on work). 1 day remote. (flexible on start and finish time).

Contract:37 Hours per week

Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at 'time and a quarter'

Duration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)

IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description:

• Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
• Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
• Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
• Planning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
• Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity
