Job summary

Lockheed Martin Ampthill is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support design, prototyping, design proving, engineering documentation, and calculations within a defence context.

This on-site role requires UK security Vetting and the ability to obtain DV clearance. You will work with Design Authorities to develop robust sub-systems that perform reliably in harsh environments and meet safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical sub-systems and components design.
• Ability to perform basic structural and kinematic calculations.
• Strong attention to detail and high-quality documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop robust, compliant design solutions from requirements and briefs.
• Create concept and detail designs using CREO Parametric CAD.
• Produce supporting calculations to justify design decisions.
• Collaborate with SMEs, Users and Design Authorities on concept solutions.
• Coordinate with CAD engineers to generate drawings and data packs.
• Prepare and present Design Review data packs to senior staff.
• Support prototype production and validation with manufacturing teams.
• Conduct physical testing and design proving on prototypes.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and safety regulations.
