Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd in Bedford is seeking an experienced Project Mechanical Design Engineer to join its engineering team. You will own projects from concept through to installation, working with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to deliver practical, cost-effective solutions.

The role involves producing 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, BOMs and documentation using SolidWorks. This hybrid, permanent position offers a salary in the £40k–£50k range and frequent cross-functional

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years' experience in a Design Engineer/Mechanical Design Engineer role.
Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and ability to manage bespoke projects.
Experience delivering concepts through to installation and handover.
Background in process equipment or manufacturing machinery is desirable.

Responsibilities

Manage projects from concept through to manufacture, installation and commissioning.
Produce detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
Develop engineering solutions based on customer requirements.
Create assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, BOMs and technical docs.
Liaise with suppliers and internal teams throughout the lifecycle.
Support shop floor manufacturing and assembly activities.
Ensure designs comply with standards and customer specs.
Track progress and assist with problem-solving during delivery.
